WN3R Donation
You have arrived at this web page by clicking on a link in a listing of equipment for sale. A committee of MCACS members has been formed to oversee the sale of equipment donated to MCACS by Dick, WN3R. The committee members include N3COB, KC3MIX, K3XIT, and KN3U.
If you are interested in purchasing one or more items of that equipment, this page will explain how to do so.
Here is a note from Dick, WN3R:
I had to sell my mountain-top radio QTH back in 2021. Part of my equipment was sold at that time with the help of friends. We ran out of time to sell everything, so the remaining equipment was stored until I had the time to deal with it.
As a long-time member of various Amateur Radio clubs in Montgomery County, Maryland, I have elected to donate much of my remaining radio gear to a worthy local organization, MCACS, to be sold, thereby raising funds to support their mission in the county. The gear being offered for sale here is part of that remaining collection. You are invited to visit the QTH.com Feedback Forum; click here to read about customer satisfaction with the first batch of equipment sold in 2021.
The equipment I donated is being sold by MCACS, and your payment goes directly to the organization. The mission of Montgomery County Auxiliary Communications Service (MCACS) is to develop and maintain a cadre of volunteers who are qualified and equipped to provide a wide range of supplemental telecommunications services supporting our community during disasters and civil emergencies. Please browse the MCACS website, https://mcacs.net/, for more information about the organization.
Please keep in mind that while MCACS is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, your purchase is not tax-deductible, since you are receiving something of value for your money. As the donor of the equipment, I get to take the tax deduction! But you get high-quality equipment at a fair price, and the proceeds go to a good cause. If you wish, you can separately make a tax-deductible donation to MCACS via their website.
All item listings include a sale price that we believe to be fair. We consider the price listed in the ad to be a firm price. We will consider offers below the listed sale price, but only after the item has been advertised for a period of three weeks, and only if, in the judgment of our committee, the offer is reasonable.
For the smaller items, shipping via USPS to the CONUS (lower 48 states) is included, when so stated in the ad. Otherwise, the buyer will be expected to pay the actual cost of packing and shipping via your choice of UPS, FedEx, or USPS in addition to the sale price. Items will be professionally packed.
We are not a retail sales organization! We are a small group of volunteers dedicated to developing resources for emergency and disaster communications. Unfortunately, due to the presence of scammers among buyers as well as sellers in the online marketplace, WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT RETURNS. The equipment is being sold as-is and all sales are final. No warranty on any purchase is offered or implied. If you feel this is a problem, please do not buy.
We are doing the best we can to ensure that there are no surprises. All items are accurately described. If you are located in the DC/Baltimore metro area, or have a trusted friend in our area, we will be happy to arrange a demonstration of the equipment you are interested in.
Please send an email to donationcommittee@mcacs.net if you would like to make a purchase. Please include the Item Number from the ad. Indicate whether you would like shipment via UPS, FedEx, or USPS, and provide your shipping address so that we can calculate shipping cost. We will provide the total cost (including shipping and Maryland sales tax, if applicable) via return email, along with detailed information on how to submit your payment. We will then reserve the item for you for three days, pending receipt of your payment. If payment is not received within three days (72 hours), we will assume that you decided not to buy it and the item will be made available to another purchaser. The item will ship as soon as practical after payment has been received, generally the next business day.
We can accept payment via Zelle, PayPal, or personal check. If you choose to pay us using a check, we will hold the item for five days after depositing the check in our bank account to ensure that it clears. We will provide additional information on sending your payment in the email we send you confirming the sale.
If you have questions about either the equipment or the process, please reach out to us at donationcommittee@mcacs.net.
Thank you,
Glenn (N3COB), Ken (KC3MIX), Will (K3XIT), and Al (KN3U)
